Summary

Dishwashers have an important role in the smooth running of our food service area, contributing to a well run-kitchen. Dishwashers follow high standards of cleanliness and sanitation which are reflected in the meal service our residents, visitors, and staff enjoy. Without dishwashers our cohesive system is weakened, and as a result, the kitchen and the facility both, do not operate in a smooth, coordinated manner. 

Qualifications 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The individual must be at least 18 years of age or older, of good moral character, have sufficient communication and language skills to enable them to perform their duties and interact effectively with residents and other staff. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Essential Responsibilities

  • Shows up to work on time and ready to start.
  • Reports illnesses to dietary personnel and/or facility management immediately.
  • Follows standard dietary practices to prevent cross contamination by maintaining distinctions between clean and sanitary as opposed to unsanitary and soiled.
  • Operates and cleans dishwashing machinery and maintains the cleanliness of cooking equipment and the kitchen area.
  • Washes, de-stains, and stock piles all kitchenware, cutlery, glassware, and cooking utensils.
  • Washes kitchen floors and walls.
  • Cleans refrigerators and other kitchen equipment.
  • Performs routine record keeping duties, to assist with compilation of department reports.
  • Performs clean-up duties as needed for each meal service.
  • Uses equipment and materials carefully, and in a safe manner, following correct operation and cleaning procedures.
  • Follows cleaning schedules and sanitation check lists.
  • Assists the cooks in checking and recording freezer, refrigerator, and other temperatures.
  • Reports all repair and maintenance needs to supervisor.
  • Removes and disposes of waste and garbage from kitchen and dishwashing areas.
  • Checks and empties all recycle bins.
  • Assists cooks in putting away stock that has come in during the shift.
  • Assists with busing dishes.
  • Sets up busing carts.
  • Cleans and sanitizes all busing equipment and carts.
  • Stocks creamer and sugar packets and other table condiments.
  • Cleans and fills salt and pepper shakers.
  • Assists with setting up dining room tables and stocking the beverage bar.
  • Assists with filling and setting up juice containers and the juice cart.

Legal Requirements

Employees in this position must successfully pass all governmental and corporate required background investigations, such as, but not limited to, state required criminal history clearance investigations.
